We hope that this site will provide you with the information you need to choose Marino Institute of Education for a rewarding Summer School experience. Building on the success of Iona College’s semester abroad programme in partnership with Marino, and in response to international student demand, Marino Institute of Education is now offering an International Summer School in Irish Studies. This school will have a wide appeal to undergraduates and mature students and those returning to education.

Aims of the Course

1. To introduce students to the breadth and depth of Irish life and culture through coursework and cultural excursions

2. To provide students with the opportunity to examine historical events, cultural traditions, artistic life and political issues in modern Ireland

3. To expand students’ awareness of the interdependence between Ireland and the US, and to enable them to acquire skills and experiences in an international setting.

Accreditation

Accreditation will be offered by Iona College, New Rochelle, NY. Students will earn six (6) credits by successfully completing two (2) of the course options from the menu of available courses. Admission is open to university students who wish to earn credits, as well as to students not aligned wtih any university course.

The assessment process will include portfolio work, oral presentations, assignments and performance.

Fees are: USD $3,999.

Complimentary transfers from/to DublinAirport
Half board accommodation on-campus (Bed, Breakfast and Lunch)
30 hours class tuition per subject
Excursions with experienced, knowledgeable staff as tour guides
One residential and guided trip to some of Ireland's best known tourist spots
Attendance Certificate
Assessment and Transcript

An optional weekend trip to a European capital (Brussels or London) may be organised, depending on demand (an additional charge will apply).

Accommodation

Participants will be housed on-campus within Marino Institute of Education. Accommodation will be provided in our study bedrooms located in St Mary’s Building.

Application Procedure

Admission is by direct application. To register, please complete the application form. This application should be printed off, completed and returned with all required documents. For further information applicants should contact us via email: summer@mie.ie

Application deadline and payment

A deposit of $150 should be made at the time of submitting the application.
The application deadline is 31 March 2012, by which time full payment is required.

Deposit/Refund/ Cancellation Policy

Students who withdraw from the course before the application deadline will receive a full refund minus $50. Notification of cancellations should be made in email or in writing and will be effective on the date received by MIE.

Students who are not admitted onto the course will receive their full deposit back.

Students who are accepted and participate in the course will have their full deposit applied to the cost of their program.
