We hope that this site will provide you with the information you need to choose Marino Institute of Education for a rewarding Summer School experience. International students, whether undergraduate or mature, who have an interest in Ireland, its rich history and culture, will enjoy and benefit very much from participation in Irish Studies Dublin.  The school offers a unique opportunity to experience Ireland, while based conveniently close to Dublin city centre and its attractions. Irish Studies Dublin

Building on the success of Iona College’s semester abroad programme in partnership with Marino, and in response to international student demand, Marino Institute of Education is now offering an International Summer School in Irish Studies. This school will have a wide appeal to undergraduates and mature students and those returning to education.

Aims of the Course:

1. To introduce students to the breadth and depth of Irish life and culture through coursework and cultural excursions
 
2. To provide students with the opportunity to examine historical events, cultural traditions, artistic life and political issues in modern Ireland
 
3. To expand students’ awareness of the interdependence between Ireland and the US, and to enable them to acquire skills and experiences in an international setting

Course Fees


Fees for 2010 are: €3,900 (Euro)

Fees include:

  • Complimentary transfers from/to Dublin Airport
  • Half board accommodation on-campus (Bed, Breakfast and Lunch)
  • 30 hours class tuition per subject
  • Excursions with experienced, knowledgeable staff as tour guides
  • One residential and guided trip to some of Irelands best known tourist spots
  • Attendance Certificate
  • Assessment and Transcript

Accommodation


Participants will be housed in on-campus within Marino Institute of Education.  Accommodation will be provided in our study bedrooms located in St Mary’s Building.


Scholarships


Scholarships to the total value of the fees will be awarded on a lottery basis to three students at the end of the course.


Awards

6 academic transfer credits will be awarded, on successful completion of two of the six course options available as part of the Summer School's programme, by Iona College, New Rochelle, New York. www.iona.edu/index.cfm
