Maureen O'Sullivan T.D at MIE

19 January 2012

Maureen O’Sullivan TD visited Marino on Wednesday 18th January to talk to students and staff about: ‘Community Activism: Local and Global’. Maureen has been involved in community activism since the 1970s.
Following the untimely death of Tony Gregory in 2009, Maureen was elected to Dáil Éireann as an Independent TD for Dublin Central, where she continues to work for social justice, human rights and equality. Maureen is also a member of the Dáil Foreign Affairs Committee.

Maureen’s talk was the first event of Stand Up, Stand Out, the four-week festival to raise awareness about social justice issues in Ireland and overseas, and which is being run with the support of the DICE Project (Development Education and Intercultural Education).
