Governance and Management

Marino Institute of Education (hereafter referred to as MIE) is a higher education institution established by a charitable trust under the co-trusteeship of the Congregation of Christian Brothers and Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin (hereafter referred to as Trinity). Since 2011 the Trustees of the Institute are two nominees of the European Province Leadership Team of the Christian Brothers, and two nominees of the Board of Trinity. The collaborative trusteeship of MIE represents a unique opportunity for a partnership approach in the future development of the Institute.

Governance of the Institute is regulated by MIE’s Instrument of Governance, which sets out the role of the Governing Body whose responsibility is “to set the strategic direction, and govern and control all the affairs of the Institute in accordance with the Intention of the Trustees”. The Governing Body’s overall responsibility is for the formulation of policies concerned with governance, academic matters (based on recommendations from the Academic Council) and quality assurance. This webpage sets out the structures and procedures for the governance and regulation of the Institute, describes the role of the Institute President and lists the bodies charged with governing and regulating the affairs of the Institute, detailing their roles and membership of those bodies.
