Biography
I am an educator, environmentalist and local historian. I spent 31 years teaching in the Primary classroom: Primary Teacher in St. Mary’s N.S., Rhode, Co. Offaly 1970-73; primary Teacher in Scoil Treasa, Donore Ave., Dublin 8 1973-2001.
In the latter school I designed and developed the first wildlife/organic school garden in the Republic.
I have been a Heritage Specialist in School since the scheme was launched about 10 years ago.
I also work as an environmentalist with the Pushkin Trust.
I have designed and delivered 29 In-service Teacher Summer Courses since 1996.
I spent 2 years developing school gardens and environmental awareness in most of the Christian Brother Primary schools from 2001-2003.
Since then I have been a full time lecturer in SESE in Colaiste Mhuire, Marino Institute of Education.
