COVID-19  Information for Students 

Restrictions related to COVID-19 are subject to change during the year in light of public health advice. However, at this time, students are required to agree to the following.

  • Students should prioritise their own health and that of the wider MIE community by acting responsibly in relation to any illness they have.
  • To support your health, MIE has an agreement with Fairview Medical Centre where you can avail of up to three visits per year at no charge to you. Appointments can be face-to-face or online
  • Students are expected to comply with the MIE attendance policy which requires full attendance. Absences due to COVID-19 counts as an absence and medical documentation will be required to support such absences
  • Mask will be work indoors if
    • You have symptoms (however mild) of COVID-19
    • You live with or are close to someone how has tested positive for or now has symptoms of COVID-19
    • You are someone who is vulnerable to COVID-19 because of underlying health issues, you are close to someone who is vulnerable to COVID-19 or you live with someone who is vulnerable to COVID-19
    • You choose to wear a mask to protect your own health. 

Symptoms of COVID-19

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 (coronavirus) are:

  • fever (high temperature - 38 degrees Celsius or above) - including having chills
  • dry cough
  • fatigue (tiredness)

COVID-19 symptoms can be like symptoms of cold, flu or hay fever.

Less common symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this could mean they're completely gone or just different to normal
  • nasal congestion (runny or blocked nose)
  • conjunctivitis (also known as red eye or pink eye)
  • sore throat
  • headache
  • muscle or joint pain (aches and pains)
  • different types of skin rash
  • nausea or vomiting
  • diarrhoea
  • chills or dizziness

Symptoms of severe COVID‐19 include:

  • shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
  • loss of appetite
  • confusion
  • pain or pressure in the chest
  • fever (high temperature - 38 degrees Celsius or above)

You may not have all of the symptoms or your symptoms may be mild.

You can still get infected if you are fully vaccinated. But your symptoms may be mild.

It can take up to 14 days after you are infected for symptoms to show. You can spread COVID-19 during this time.
