Student Counselling Servicesscs

Marino Institute of Education (MIE) have entered into a Service Level Agreement with Trinity College Dublin and Jo Harney was appointed the liaison counsellor for MIE.

The following outlines the services and support that are available for MIE students as part of this agreement.

Counselling Service:

All the therapists at the Student Counselling Service here in Trinity are qualified and accredited Psychotherapist, Clinical or Counselling Psychologists. We also have trainee students from accredited programmes which are supervised and see students on site.   One-to-one assessment and counselling sessions; opening hours Mon - Fri 9.00 - 5.30 and late opening Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time until 8.00pm. To make an appointment students can call 01 896 1407 or call into the service. Another option for MIE staff is to make the appointment for a student also by calling 896 1407. Daily emergency/duty appointments are held at 3pm; this is reserved for urgent issues such as students who are at risk i.e. suicidal ideation etc or who are at risk of drop-out. MIE staff can request this appointment on behalf of a student, and it is important that this appointment is made as early as possible on the day. Brief consultation drop-in at TCD at lunchtimes (during term time only) - no appointment required. Brief Consult in Marino Room 16 St. Patrick’s Building Wednesday’s between 12p.m. - 2.00pm during term time only. Counselling groups or workshops run in the service; some of these are drop-in, others require registration by the student or referral from a counsellor. See http://www.tcd.ie/Student_Counselling/  for all up to date information.
