This course focuses on children who are experiencing problems in literacy. Participants will be guided in diagnosing children's difficulties within the three strands of the English Curriculum. Through the use of assessment and case studies, it will outline practical strategies and ideas to ameliorate difficulties in oral language, reading and writing.

MATHEMATICS: OBSERVING TEACHING, CHILDREN AND MATHEMATICS

This course is based around a mathematics summer school for children. Each day the tutor will teach mathematics to children in a middle-grade primary school class while the course participants observe. Beforehand and afterwards participants discuss various aspects of the specific teaching and of teaching mathematics in general.

Participants will receive a USB key of digital resources to facilitate creative learning adventures suited to their own contexts.
