The Marino Labyrinth: An Ancient Symbolic Tool for Healing and Wholeness

Marino-Labyrinth

Welcome to the Marino Labyrinth.  It was created for you!

It was constructed in 2022 by Tony Christie and built by students and staff of MIE.  The Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool used for centring, prayer and insights. It is a simile of our path through life. There is no right or wrong way to walk the Labyrinth, but here are some steps to make it an intentional, spiritual practice.

The Labyrinth Walk

Prepare: Take a moment to breathe deeply and become aware of your surroundings.

The Journey in: Follow the path, let go and don’t try to control the experience.  Walk with an open heart and an open mind and observe whatever arises for you.

Reaching the Centre: Receive what this moment offers you.  Reflect, listen or pray. Stay as long as you need.

The Journey Out: Return following the same path.  Carry this experience into your life.

Breathing in I calm my body

Breathing out I smile

Present moment

Wonderful moment

In 2023 MIE Artist in Residence, Colm Ó Foghlú, inspired by the Marino Labyrinth, composed a suite ‘A Space Among the Stones’.  The four movements of the suite reflect the four elements of the Labyrinth Walk.  You can listen to the suite here…
