About the event

Recent developments across the literacy landscape both nationally and internationally have raised an increasing awareness of the need to celebrate linguistic diversity and to support a range of literacies and individual literacy learner needs. This presents both possibilities and challenges for all involved in language and literacy education. National and international research has cast light on the need to unpack existing perceptions and practices to examine what works, when and for whom. How can we ensure that children’s linguistic repertoires and language practices are valued? How can we meaningfully engage with research to support the development of evidence-based literacy practices? How can we ensure that research underpins contemporary policies and discourse? It is timely to look ahead and explore possibilities for languages and literacies into the future.
