Chaplaincy

Our Vision Statement

The role of MIE's Chaplaincy team is to provide a supportive dynamic environment that fosters a spirit of inclusiveness on campus; valuing spirituality and cultural diversity and offering a space to live and reflect on one’s faith or worldview. The service networks with other agencies which promote holistic development and a sense of justice for all.

Our vision is firmly rooted in the values of Blessed Edmund Rice whose vision of education is based on compassion, presence, and liberation. Based on this mission our three-fold vision is built upon:

 Chaplaincy-Vision-Statement

The Chaplain, Dr Lily Barry, is located in room 109A – facing the Chapel – and is available to meet students on a one-to-one basis here. This is a safe and quiet space and students are welcome to drop up at any time.

The Chapel, adjacent to the Chaplaincy Office, is always open to students and staff who wish to pray, reflect or seek a quiet place.

The inter-belief reflection room is located in St. Patrick’s Hall, P.41 and is also available for personal quiet-time and prayer.

The Labyrinth, located on the college grounds, is also another useful reflection space for students and staff to use.

Tacaíocht Tosaigh ag am an Bháis

Ceann de na róil atá ag an tSéiplíneacht in Institiúid Oideachais Marino ná cur le Córas na dTeagascóirí chun tacaíocht a thabhairt do mhic léinn ag am an bháis. Déanaimid iarracht cárta a chur chuig mic léinn ag na hamanna sin agus déanaimid ár ndícheall freastal ar shochraidí (tuismitheoirí, siblíní agus céilí na mac léinn, de ghnáth). Is é an Teagascóir Pearsanta an chéad teagmháil i gcónaí ach uaireanta bíonn an tacaíocht a ofrálann an tSéiplíneacht ag teastáil ó mhic léinn. Sa chás sin, is féidir teagmháil a dhéanamh leis an Dr Marie Whelton ag (01) 8535158 nó trí ríomhphost a chur chuig [email protected].

Initial Bereavement Support

One of the roles of Chaplaincy in Marino Institute of Education is to complement the Tutor System and to provide support for students at times of bereavement. We try to send a card to students at those times and we do our best to attend funerals (parents, siblings and life-partners of students usually). Personal Tutors are always the first port-of-call, but sometimes students need the additional support that Chaplaincy offers. Please feel free to contact Dr Marie Whelton, at any time, at (01) 8535158 or by email at [email protected].
