Welcome to MIE Library

MIELibrary

The mission of MIE Library is to empower its users, in their personal, academic, and professional development and to support the teaching, learning and research objectives of the Institute through the provision of inclusive services, technology, collections, and dedicated Library staff.

It offers a great environment for research and learning. The library also provides extensive off-site services, enabling students to access resources remotely when they are not on campus. You can access the library homepage here.

Genevieve Larkin

Genevieve began her career in the public library sector in 2006, and became a Library Assistant in St. Patrick's College Library (D.C.U.) in 2008. After managing the interlibrary loan service, circulation, and the information and research support service there, she moved to the Marino Institute of Education where she was the Assistant Librarian for 4 years. She has an M.A. in Comparative Literature from D.C.U. (2008), an M.L.I.S. from R.G.U. (2014), and an associateship of the Library Association of Ireland (LAI, 2017). She earned a P.G. Dip in Higher Education from T.C.D in 2019. She was appointed Head of Library Services in MIE in 2019, and is particularly interested in designing and managing user-focused library services and spaces.

Audrey Geraghty

Teaching Librarian

After completing a degree in History and Politics, Audrey started her library career in public libraries in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in 1999.

She completed the Higher Diploma in Library and Information Studies in 2002. Since then, she has worked in different academic institutions, placing a particular emphasis on the needs of the students.

Duties have included administration and staffing, inter-library loan management, cataloguing, acquisitions, digitisation projects, e-book collection development, subscription management, library overview and training presentations and copyright issues.

Audrey is currently the teaching librarian in Marino Institute of Education (March 2024) and is responsible for the development and provision of teaching materials, support and webinars for students and staff.

Anne is MIE Library’s Systems Librarian. She's passionate about making our online study and research environment the best it can be. Anne is always trying to find new ways to improve the Library digital infrastructure, making it easier for students and lecturers to find the resources they need. When she's not in the library, she loves exploring new places and discovering new books.

Donna Whelan is an experienced Library Assistant, working in the role in MIE since 2006. She enjoys providing a supportive learning environment and is interested in positive student engagement. When not in the library, she can be found by the sea, or tending to her community Little Free Library.

Aislinn began working as a Library Assistant at MIE in January 2024. She enjoys promoting the Library’s collection and resources, and helps to run the Instagram and Twitter pages.
