Biography

George Palomino is a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) on the Trinity International Foundation Programme at Marino Institute of Education (MIE). He supports students from diverse backgrounds in developing analytical, communicative and intercultural competencies through inclusive, research-informed practice. He has worked in higher education since 2017, teaching EAP across foundation, pre-sessional and in-sessional programmes in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and contributing to curriculum design, assessment and digital learning initiatives. As an Educational Technologist, he also designed modules and trained academic staff in digital pedagogy. He is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA).

His research interests lie in generative AI and academic literacy teaching. He is a doctoral researcher on the Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Digital Technologies at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, where his qualitative, interview-based study explores how pre-sessional EAP tutors in the Republic of Ireland exercise pedagogical judgement when generative AI arises in their teaching, and how their professional learning informs that judgement. He has completed the taught component of the programme (equivalent to a Master’s in Practitioner Research) and is now undertaking the research phase.
