Garda Vetting
As many of the placements students undertake are in setting with children and vulnerable adults, all students undertaking placement at MIE must be Garda Vetted. International students or students who have lived abroad for six months or longer since the age of 18 must also present a valid Police Certificate from their country of residence prior to commencing placement.
Garda Vetting is a background check that is completed by the National Vetting Bureau of An Garda Síochána. Garda Vetting is completed at registration when students start on their programme. Before attending in person registration, students will receive an email with the relevant Garda Vetting form, which they will complete at registration in person on campus.
Garda Vetting is typically valid for the duration of your studies at MIE and is only valid for placements you complete as part of your studies. MIE Garda Vetting may not be used for activities or positions outside of college placements.
